A few weekends ago I built this lake out of old plywood to bring to 11th annual Children's Festival in Minett.  This event featured hands-on arts workshops, performances by youth and professional artists, clowns, buskers, storytelling, face painting, etc. It was held under the Big Top at Minett Landing, beside Wallace Marina.  I participated in this event 2 summers ago and thought it was so fun I needed to return.  Kids sculpted things you might find in & around our lakes and left them for a collaberative project to be put on display later at Muskoka Place Gallery.  What a great way to kick off the summer!

There has been lots of changes and upgrades to the Chetolah space lately. The newest edition is an eye catching sign up over the gallery doors.  Just wanted to brag a little cause I think it looks grand along with the freshly painted gallery doors. Other projects include a new coffee bar station with sink that was built from old dump finds & a lot of imagination. Come & check it out next time you're in Dorset. Iced coffee is in the works now too! I've been testing and retesting recipes to make the most amazing iced coffee for those hot summer days. I have an incredible feeling about this summer. Yipeeeee!

Tara doing a clay demonstration in one of the classrooms at Gravenhurst Public School.
This spring I got to work with some amazingly talented grade 7 split classes to create a project inspired by 'Images of Muskoka's Past'.  We went on a walking tour of parts of Gravenhurst including the Grace & Speed Boat Museum. Learning photography & photoshop skills and capturing images of Gravenhurst's history we then created clay relief sculptural tiles. Kaleidoscope organized funding and coordinated the artists, the teachers at GPS and the students themselves. As always....I learned lots & had a great time.  A more detailed documentation of the project is posted on the Kaleidoscope Arts in Education Programs website. What a great thing to be able to bring more art into the classrooms!    You can also check out an article in the local paper about the event here.

The wait is finally over and after almost 5 years of renovations......'All The Best Fine Food' is operating out of the amazing new space. Exciting news is that amongst the displays of gourmet food you will find Tara's pottery.  The only location in Toronto selling her fun + useful pots. Check out the great write up in Toronto Life Magazine!

I love it when people tell me how they are enjoying pots I've made. I got this photo from a lovely friend who shared her late night snack with me via the world wide web. This is one of the positive affirmation bowls I made for some loved ones for Christmas. Thanks for sharing:)

Cleaning up and organizing I came across this and wanted to share.  I was so completely overwhelmed with this poets kindness and talent with words. I received it in an email just before Christmas and it brought a tear to my eye. What a wonderful gift.....and SO unexpected!

My boss’s daughter is a potter
Ex-tra-or-di-naire.
Decorating with ferns, her pots she turns
With distinctive flair!
Abounding with praises for pots, plates, and vases
From Toronto to Dorset she came.
Making bowls of all sizes and full of surprises
As no two are exactly the same.
Toiling ‘til night from the dawn’s early light
Chetolah Studio was born.

Pouring hearts, and mugs bold, for drinks hot and cold
Cupboards and tables adorn.
Bowls, cups and platters are all a-scatter
Useful and decorative wares arrayed
Products kiln fired for guests to admire
With artistic flair displayed.

In rustic surroundings with Fresh Air abounding
She hosts kiddie classes, for what passes
As muddy, toad abodes...
And she oft hits the road with a rather large load
Of pots, plates and platters – to artisan shows.
Then her stock depleted, her goal completed,
Back to Dorset she goes!
Custom orders she’ll do, it’s all up to you –
A Casserole? Dinner set? Other items galore.
Just let her know, and she’ll be all set to go
And - will leave you wanting more!

In Dorset? Please stop, at Chetolah’s quaint shop
A short hop from the bay or the highway,
Have a latté as well and visit a spell,
Browse to your heart’s content.
You’ll find something, no doubt, that you can’t do without
You’ll certainly be glad you went!

A lovely friend sent me this photo the other day of her yummy breakfast in a fern bowl. I love hearing when people get joy out of using one of my handmade pots. Thanks.

Today has been a great house keeping day. While cleaning up my computer I came across these photos of old pots I made while going to NSCAD University.
